is it me, or did anybody else notice that maybe because Yuri comes of as apathetic, it rolls off as unempathetic to others?

The manga always showed up there first anyway, along with links to raws and fanart and shit.

3300 subscribers. Just go there you goons. There's even a fucking discord server.

At least we don't have to read any more BCS comments.

We can keep commenting on World Three's website. Anyway, goodbye batoto

Guys I will be missing your comments.

Next 18 is the date of the next chapter, don't make me think about it.

It's been fun reading stuff here, and talking with people about the manga and stuff I read. A shame, really. It's not only gonna be a matter of "oh, I gotta find a new place to read this" but also find the conversation and people to talk with. Well, it is what it is.

Guys I will be missing your comments.

I want to be beaten by Yosida seriously.

An anon recently posted an analysis of the series, right up until the current chapter (127). Can't say I necessarily agree with everything they say (particularly about Yuu and Kotomi), but it's interesting nonetheless, so here it goes:

Btw, that 'anon' is here too. He even put a forum post up there. (Also for other series)

Thanks for sharing this review, I thought it was really insightful in showing the growth of all the characters. It made me want to reread this manga again.

my delinquent can't possibly be this cute

Also Yuri is a little all over the place with her emotions...

Still it's great to see them all hanging out and having fun. Especially yoshida. These last couple chapters have given me an azumanga daioh feel.

I agree. After school trip watamote changed completely. It's much better story now. But God, please do not make watamote into lesbian harem...
Actually, everyone that is reading this. Reread whole thing, and look carefully at backgrounds. There are many things to notice.

Correction: please DO MAKE IT into a lesbian harem

my heart is warm

Does USJ have attractions that bully the audience?

Water World. Don't sit near the front if you don't want to get bullied.

I still remember when everyone was just a bunch of misfits bounded together by coincidence. Now even Yoshida treats Kuroki like a friend!

  • The "you" which Yuri takes offense to is "omae", so a bit rude – but also familiar. Another sign of Tomoko and Yuri getting closer, when Tomoko can get mad and use a familiar tone like that. Tomoko has made friends, but Yuri is the most probable to become a close friend.
  • Yoshida's "you two" is "omaera", though that's probably more a sign of Yoshida's "delinquency", but even so Yuri reflects on it. Dunno what that signifies – "omg this girl is so rude" or "are we getting closer to Yoshida too?" or something? Or nothing, but then that thought bubble would be unnecessary.

The way Yuri's thoughts seem to drift off is reminiscent of how she responded to "Mokocchi" and "Yuu-chan" in Ch. 124, so I'm fairly sure this is meant to be taken as Yoshida triggering Yuri's sense of sentimentality towards her few friends and not tension due to her rudeness. I think Yuri becomes reflective upon hearing Yoshida referring to the two of them as "omaera," because the fact that Yoshida said it in a moment where she was being physically affectionate made her realize its use might not always be meant as a social rejection. After all, she initially took offense to Tomoko's use of "omae" (to the point of flinging its use back in Tomoko's face), but decides to forgive her after Yoshida, in her infinite naivety, interrupts and defuses their argument. Though she's seemingly unable to let the matter go without first reassuring herself that she is correct in assuming that Tomoko was speaking from an assumed sense of familiarity, by asking if she did consider her (name) worth remembering. But once her insecurities are soothed, she seems quite happy in the next panel, and easily "forgives" Tomoko for another one of her plans going awry. Tomoko never quite got why Yuri was being snappy towards her "all day" (presumably ever since the "Nemo-Kuro" affair), and wishes that her feelings would be more on the surface like Yoshida's; that said, now that Yuri's planted the notion of using first names in her head, maybe Tomoko will shift into referring her as such (more smoothly than with Nemo) in the upcoming chapters.

is there a serious analysis of all the characters and their interactions, developments, and their significance or something like that written anywhere?

Why?

the lyrics of course

Spoiler

If I have to pick a song that represents this series, it would be this one

Why?

This chapter was hilarious. The expanded cast really adds to the manga and helps situate Tomoko comfortably in the "Now she has friends and isn't alone but oh god they're all mental too" camp.

...Her "Reject Posse" is going to end up destroying the rest of Japanese society before this manga is through, isn't it?

My chapter notes.

  • I've never been particularly fond of how the authors sometimes leave off with a "cliffhanger" of sorts and then don't do a direct follow-up. For example, chapter 126 to 127 (it felt like a lay-up for a confrontation), chapter 120 to 121 (it felt like they would keep the situation going; my interpretation of the Japanese line is like "can we stay here for a while longer"), or chapter 22 to 23 (Tomoko puts sticker photos of herself all over Tomoki's room; the editor puts a comment "is her brother going to leak those pictures?!" but it never came up again). I guess it's a question of different interpretations. Like, maybe they think chapter 126 ended with a pure (comedic) punchline, not the (drama) lay-up that I read into it. And, of course, sometimes they play the long game, like chapter 21, where the student council prez gives Tomoko a hug and the editor's text is "the one who granted Mokocchi's wish was…?"; the follow-up came five years later!
  • Yoshida has worn her jacket slanted with one shoulder pulled down her arm (doesn't look comfortable) since the fight, guess it's part of her feelings of guilt. Were the authors more… "conventional", I'd think it (including the remembrance in this chapter) was a lay-up for Tomoko to somehow help her (directly or indirectly) reconcile with her delinquent friends. It could also be a case of showing Yoshida that these guys are a better bunch for going with her cuteness fandom, but that would be a shitty message since Yoshida was clearly in the wrong. It may also be noted that she had her jacket on properly during the log ride fall, and now after Kowarith. Hm…
  • Hina's response was that tsukkomi line "nandeyanen". She's an entertainer, that girl! I can totally imagine her having a seiyū radio show years later when she's an anime voice actress. "Back in high school, I had this weird, silent classmate who'd look at dick pics in class…"
  • Emoji's name Emiri is given as 笑美莉: laughter, beauty, jasmine. 笑み emi is "smile". Kinda punny, I guess?
  • If Emoji is actually in love with Tomoko, I almost feel a bit bad for her since it's all from misunderstandings.
  • Yuri and Yoshida too cute!
  • Now that Tomoko has said Yuri's name to her face, maybe she'll stick to using it? I don't know why Tomoko doesn't call Yuri by name, but I can identify with it. Personally speaking, I too have a hard time calling people by their names when we haven't had a proper introduction. Like, I know the person's name by context or having overheard it, but I'm uncomfortable saying it, like it's something I'm not meant to know or I haven't received permission to use it. Now Tomoko got an explicit permission, so hurdle surpassed I guess!
I’m still waiting for Komi-something to appear uHu so we can have the Avengers finally asembled :v
