Evangelion - RE-TAKE ~After~ (Doujinshi)

I haven't read any other doujinshi about the after-math (if there's any), but this one really closed up loose ends and (for me) ended the story very well. If you read the entire version, it adds mind-bogglign moments (like the original story), as well as very heart warming emotions I haven't felt  in a long time after reading a story/manga.

Overall, real ending or not (I'd like to believe this is the real ending), this wrapped up the story very nicely, and imo, the ending the series deserved.

For anyone looking at this now, search it up elsewhere, worth every page.  

I watched the original evangelion series when I was in my mid teens. I'm not going to get all emo over it, but I will say that at the time, even though I couldn't vocalise the sort of feelings it could instill in me, I knew it was a powerful story. It spoke to me, and stuck with me for a long long time. I wasn't old enough at the time to fully appreciate the nuance and variety of the show, and as I watched it over again as I got older, I could appreciate more of the depth.

I think that when you are a teenager you can be so rife with crazy hormones that you feel things more passionately than at any other time in your life. The highs are the highest, the lows the lowest. As you get older and your metabolism evens out, and you build life experiences that mean you tend to sit in the middle of these extremes more often. You get comfortable, complacent... and just a little dull.

It becomes harder to find experiences that give you such intensity. I guess that's the nature of youth.

Many years later and I've come to watch Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 (and hopefully soon, 3.00), I've read various fanfictions and alternate retellings of the tale from various authors.

While I remain hopeful that the retelling of the story via 1.11 and so on will be powerful enough to equal or exceed the experience the original tale instilled in me, I'm not sure it would be possible. I'm not the same person I was when I watched the original, and the creators are more experienced too. This is inevitable.

The point I'm trying to get at is that of all the spinoffs, doujins, remakes, retakes and all the other Evangelion stuff I have seen over the years, this doujin is the closest anyone has ever come to giving me the same kind of intense rush the original series gave me when I was a teenager.

I can give it no higher praise than that.
